ABOUT THE HOST

Martin Bandyke has spent a lifetime immersed in music and broadcasting. His passion was sparked early by records his father brought home from Niznik’s Music Shop, leading to drum lessons and a deep love for British Invasion bands. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Radio, TV, and Film, Bandyke played drums in influential Detroit-area bands like The Zooks and Retro, sharing stages with legends including Iggy Pop and Gang of Four. His radio career began in 1983 at WDET-FM, where he eventually became music director and midday host, shaping Detroit’s sonic landscape for over two decades.
In 2006, Bandyke joined ann arbor’s 107one as morning drive host and launched his beloved Sunday show “Fine Tuning,” a format-free celebration of musical artistry that continues to this day. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge, warm on-air presence, and deep respect for musicianship, Martin marked his 40th anniversary in radio in 2023 and remains a cherished voice in Michigan’s cultural community.
