Hometown: Detroit | Genre: Folk, Indie-Rock

Label: Asthmatic Kitty | Most Recent Release: Javelin (2023)

Bio: Michigan native Sufjan Stevens started his career in the folk-rock band Marzuki, along with the garage band Con Los Dudes. He released solo albums titled “Michigan” and “Illinois” with songs about places around the states, including his epic indie masterpiece “Chicago.” At one point, he vowed to write an album for each of the 50 states but later revealed that that was more of a joke. But if anyone could pull that off, it would be him. Sufjan continues releasing highly acclaimed albums that can be both massive in scope and very intimate in substance. His much-anticipated new album “Javelin” is coming out on Oct. 6 on his label, Asthmatic Kitty.
