Bruce Springsteen, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Robert Smith of The Cure and Michael Stipe of R.E.M. are among the people interviewed about their voices for a new book.
The Singers Talk – The Greatest Singers of Our Time Discuss the One Thing They’re Never Asked About: Their Voices by author/musician Jason Thomas Gordon will be published on September 5th. Gordon not only interviewed singers, he also spoke with other musicians and producers about singers no longer with us.
The roster of interviews includes Bryan Adams, Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers, Nile Rodgers on David Bowie, Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go’s, Butch Vig of Garbage on Kurt Cobain, Tom Morello on Chris Cornell, Roger Daltrey of The Who, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, Sammy Hagar, Davey Havok of AFI, Brittany Howard, Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Joan Jett, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, Norah Jones, Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran, Geddy Lee of Rush, Michael McDonald, Stevie Nicks, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Perry, Lionel Richie, Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Smokey Robinson, Johnny Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls, Billy Squier, Paul Stanley of KISS, Rod Stewart, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Dionne Warwick, Roger Waters, Ann Wilson of Heart and Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
Gordon likely got many of these people to talk because the book’s proceeds will go to a charity — St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The hospital was founded by Gordon’s grandfather, Danny Thomas.
