Sheryl Crow Has Some Words for Jason Aldean

A lot of people have piled on country star Jason Aldean for the questionable lyrics of his new single, “Try That In a Small Town” — and Sheryl Crow just jumped on top of that heap.

Sheryl, who grew up in the small town of Kennett, Missouri, smacked down Aldean over the song, which includes lyrics like “Got a gun that my granddad gave me/ They say one day they’re gonna round up/ Well, that [stuff] might fly in the city, good luck/ Try that in a small town.”

Crow tweeted, “I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence. There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence, You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting. This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame.”

Aldean was on stage when a mass shooter opened fire at Las Vegas’s Route 91 Music Festival, leaving 60 dead and more than 400 wounded.

The country star has also faced criticism about the video for “Try That in a Small Town,” which was filmed at the site of an infamous lynching.
