Tay Takes a Pro-LGBTQ Stand in Chicago

Taylor Swift marked the beginning of Pride Month by doubling down on her support of LGBTQ rights on the opening night of her Chicago Eras tour stand.

After playing her pro-queer anthem “You Need to Calm Down,” Tay paused to declare her show “a safe space”– and deliver a warning about the state of LGBTQ rights in the U.S. She said, “I wish that every place was safe and beautiful for people in the LGBTQ community, Right now and in recent years, there have been so many harmful pieces of legislation that have put people in the LGBTQ and queer community at risk. It’s painful for everyone. Every ally, every loved one, every person in these communities.”

She ended by saying “I love you guys so much and happy Pride Month.”
