David Bowie Publishing Deal is Worth $250 Million

The David Bowie estate has sold his publishing to Warner-Chappell in a deal Variety says is worth $250-million.

It’s the first publishing sale of 2022, coming after a year where dozens of high-profile acts — like Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan — sold their publishing catalogs for hundreds of millions.

The deal means that Bowie’s publishing and recorded catalog is now under the Warner Brothers umbrella. The estate struck a deal last fall with Warner that will see the label add his 2000 to 2016 recordings in 2023 to the 1968 to 1999 catalog they already release.
