All-Star Georgia Covers Album Set

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s covers album of Georgia-related songs, Georgia Blue, will be out digitally on October 15th with CD and vinyl versions out November 26th.

The first single, R.E.M.’s “Driver 8,” features John Paul White and is out now. Bela Fleck and Chris Thile do a cover of another R.E.M. song, “Nightswimming.” “Sometimes Salvation” from The Black Crowes features that band’s original drummer, Steve Gorman, and “Kid Fears” from Indigo Girls features Julien Baker and Brandi Carlile.

The idea for the project started in November 2020 when Isbell tweeted, “If [Joe] Biden wins Georgia I’m gonna make a charity covers album of my favorite Georgia songs.” Isbell now says, “I will admit my motivations were a bit selfish. For years, I’ve been looking for an excuse to record these songs with my band and some friends. The songs on this album are some of my favorite Georgia-related songs.”

All proceeds from the album will go to Black Voters Matter, Georgia Stand-Up and Fair Fight.
