The Avett Brothers musical, Swept Away, finally has a premiere date on the books.

The project was announced over two years ago and was supposed to have its debut last year. Now the show’s producers have announced that it will have its first staging at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, California, on January 9th, 2022.

Swept Away is named after a track on the Avetts 2004 album Mignonette and the musical uses many songs from that album and others from their catalog. It’s set in 1888 and tells the tale of a shipwrecked crew that includes two brothers and their struggle to survive after reaching land off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
