After leaks and a series of errors led to a slight delay in its release, Lorde’s “Solar Power” single and video officially arrived at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday.
It’s the first music off what will be the 24-year-old New Zealander’s third album, though there’s no info as to exactly when that’s coming or what its title will be. We do know that Jack Antonoff produced “Solar Power” and that it features backing vocals from Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo. It comes six days shy of four years from the release of Lorde’s last album, Melodrama.
Lorde co-directed and stars in the “Solar Power” video, which was shot at a beach, a fitting place to sing and dance to a song that has as its theme the restorative power of summer.
