The show will not go on — on time, that is — for the Grammy Awards — which have been postponed until March 14th.
This year’s ceremony was scheduled for January 31st, but organizers are citing the latest COVID spike as the reason for pushing it back. The initial plan was to stage a scaled-down show with no live audience, but even that proved to be too difficult to pull off.
In a statement posted on the Recording Academy’s social media, they write: “After thoughtful conversations with health experts, our host and artists scheduled to appear, we are rescheduling the 63rd Grammys to be broadcast Sunday, March 14[th].”
Trevor Noah had previously been named the host. The 2021 Grammy nominations were led by Beyoncé who picked up nine nominations, while Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch followed with six nods each.
