Lana Del Rey has answered those critical of her wearing a mesh mask to a book signing in L.A. last month.
While she’s taken some flak for her decision to get up close with the public with a porous face covering, Del Rey says things weren’t quite as they seemed — the mask had a plastic lining sewn into it.
“They’re commonly sewn in by stylists these days,” she said, in response to an article about the incident in The Michigan Daily that suggested that she might become a victim of cancel culture. She added that the masks of everyone who appeared in her video were similarly protected.
After a fan questioned why it had taken her so long to offer a response, she said she’s been “working on two albums and excitedly and happily donating a million dollars throughout the nation.”
