Tame Impala: Kick Off Eco-Friendly Tour

Tame Impala kicked of their touring behind their new album, The Slow Rush, Monday in San Diego and performed six of its songs live for the first time, as well as debuting a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion.”

The band also announced they’ve partnered with the nonprofit REVERB to reduce environmental waste during the trek. Among the steps the band is taking is to set up Eco-Villages at each stop with info on eco-friendly nonprofits, a free filtered water refill station to reduce single-use plastic refuse and other ways to help cut down on trash.

Over the course of the tour the band also plans to fund projects that eliminate greenhouse gases, donate excess food and hotel toiletries to local shelters, recycle backstage and on tour buses and have band members and crew use reusable water bottles and more. (Pitchfork)
