David Bowie: Live in Motor City & Music City

A live David Bowie album is on tap for Record Store Day, April 18th.

I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) contains unreleased recordings from 1974 shows in Nashville and Detroit.

According to his website, it was “recorded mostly during David’s performance at the Michigan Palace in Detroit on October 20th, 1974, with the encores taken from the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville on November 30th, 1974. The only song missing from the full set on October 20th is ‘Diamond Dogs,’ which was unfortunately only recorded in part. To make up for that it was decided to include the encores from the  November 30th performance, which featured ‘Diamond Dogs,’ but also enables a fuller representation of the set from The Soul Tour including such numbers as ‘Knock on Wood’ and the ‘Foot Stomping / I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate’ medley.”

This is the first time the audio from that part of the tour has ever been officially released.

Also out on Record Store Day is ChangesNowBowie, a 1996 session during rehearsals for his 50th birthday concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
