The Cure: New Album This Year, We Promise

Robert Smith claims that a new album from The Cure will definitely be out in 2020.

Smith tells NME that they’ve got two albums in the works along with a solo project that’s just “an hour of noise… The first one will definitely be out soon, we’re wrapping it up now and it’s going to be mixed. But until it’s out, no one will believe me! I look forward to it coming out more than anyone else, trust me!”

Of course, fans are taking Smith’s claims with a grain of salt since he said a new album was definitely on the way in 2019 after the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Cure’s last studio album was 4:13 Dream in 2008.

Meanwhile, The Cure won Best Festival Headliner, Foals captured Best Live Act, The 1975 took home the Innovation Award and Liam Gallagher’s As It Was earned Best Music Film at the NME Awards Wednesday evening in London.
