David Byrne is teaming with director Spike Lee to bring his American Utopia to the big screen later this year.
The show “has played to sold-out, record-breaking houses” since opening at the Hudson Theater on Broadway in October,” according to Deadline. It is set to end its run on February 16th.
Deadline also quotes Byrne on the announcement. He says ,”Pinch me. This couldn’t have worked out better for this project. Spike Lee directing and Participant producing — two socially engaged teams, well, three if you count us in the band, coming together in what I feel will be something moving, important, and unlike anything anyone has seen before.”
