Significant turbulence for the Grammy Awards just one week before the ceremony in Los Angeles.

Effective immediately, the CEO of the Recording Academy has been placed on “administrative leave.” Deborah Dugan has been accused of “misconduct by a senior female member of the Recording Academy team.”

A source within the Recording Academy claimed that Deborah Dugan never fit in with the Board of Trustees. They released a statement Thursday evening that said in part, (quote) “We felt this action to be necessary, due to serious concerns that recently were brought to our attention. The Board has also retained two independent third-party investigators.”

Deborah Dugan was on the job for less than a year. She replaced the previous CEO, Neil Portnow, who made a tone-deaf statement in response to the fact that men receive more than 90 percent of Grammy nominations. He provoked an uproar by saying women “need to step up.” (Billboard)
