Guster: Strings + Improv = a Tour?

Guster did an acoustic tour with strings in 2012 and 2103. They did their first set of improv earlier this year in the lead-up to Look Alive‘s release. And now they’re combining the two!

An Evening of Acoustic Music and Improv kicks off February 27th in Los Angeles and will feature the band playing acoustically with a string quartet. They’ll also do improv at each show with guest performers led by Connor Ratliff of the Upright Citizens Brigade. The trek hits 18 cities before wrapping up April 4th in Tarrytown, New York. Tickets go on sale Friday.

The band says, “Expect us to dig deep into the Guster catalog and discover songs we don’t usually play at our big rock shows. Expect violins and cellos. Maybe some nights we make up an album on stage… As is the nature of improv (and special guests), each show will be unique. 2020 is going to be a lot of fun, and we can’t wait to mix up our Guster shows to create something new out of something old with you all.”

The group has also released an acoustic version of “Terrified” to all digital platforms.
