Brandi Carlile: Girls Just Wanna Weekend Festival in the Works

Brandi Carlile has started her own destination festival celebrating women in rock. The inaugural Girls Just Wanna Weekend will take place January 20th through February 3rd, 2019 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Carlile will announce the all-female lineup on Wednesday.

“Girls Just Wanna Weekend is something I’m really proud of,” Carlile wrote on her website. “These past few years I’ve really been noticing the exclusion of women at the top of mainstream festival lineups. This is a weekend holiday in Mexico celebrating women in rock and roll.”

Details are still slim, but sounds like it will be a family friendly affair (“Bring your kids — I’m bringing mine!” she writes), plentifully stocked with tequila. While the event puts the spotlight on women who rock, “men and women and anyone in between” are welcome to attend.
