Eurythmics, Patti Smith and R.E.M.: Nominees

Eurythmics, R.E.M. and Patti Smith have been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Also nominated are The Neptunes, OutKast, Vince Gill, Gloria Estefan, Journey, Steve Miller, Mariah CareyThe Isley BrothersMike Love and David Gates of Bread.

To be eligible you have to have been writing hit songs for at least 20 years.

The Class of 2020 will be announced next year, with the ceremony set for June 11th in New York City.

Steve Miller tells us, “Wow the Songwriters Hall of Fame. It all starts with a song. How about that! It’s a great honor to be nominated.”

And Mike Love says, “I am deeply honored to have been nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. I have no words to describe how emotionally touched I am. I have so many loving memories of writing those songs and so much gratitude to those who have loved our music for so many generations.”
