Phish: The Plague Impacts Labor Day Run

Phish fans won’t be able to camp out at the band’s traditional Labor Day weekend run in Commerce City, Colorado because of the plague.

The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge has identified cases of plague this summer in prairie dog colonies. Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is in the refuge area. The local health department is allowing the shows — set for August 30th through September 1st — to go on, but has restricted parking at the venue to asphalt lots.

The band announced today (Tuesday) that the decision will bar concertgoers from parking on unpaved lots or grass. There will be no overnight camping allowed for this year’s shows.

Fans who bought camping tickets and RV tickets will get refunds. Phish and the event’s promoter have assembled a site for nearby hotels, some with discounted weekend rates for Phish fans. Free shuttles to off-site parking will be available — details coming next week.
