The Raconteurs: White Dishes

A raconteur is defined as a storyteller and The Raconteurs Jack White has some stories to tell about a few other artists in a new Rolling Stone interview:

  • The Black Keys – The supposed feud between White and the duo is over, according to White, who comments that he respects “all rockers.” He thinks “[the beef] was some lawyers trying to screw me over and trying to take something out of context. [Black Keys drummer] Patrick Carney stopped by while we were recording this Raconteurs album and let me borrow a microphone. That was cool of him.”
  • Greta Van Fleet – White is more sympathetic towards the Michigan quartet than many in the industry and press have been. “They’re three Polish brothers from Frankenmuth, Michigan — I thought that was a joke! But it’s exciting to see young people play rock and roll, no doubt about it. That guy has a very cool voice. The more he makes it his own, the better. People used to say, when I first came out, ‘He sounds like Robert Plant.’ If you keep pushing forward, that [crap] goes away.”
  • Bob Dylan – The two are known to be buddies, so Rolling Stone asked if Dylan has ever said anything that stuck with him. He replied, “All the time. He’s been an incredible mentor to me, and a good friend, too. I’m lucky to even have one conversation with him. Everything else has been icing on the cake.”
