Tom Petty‘s childhood home is in the process of being sold and could become a tourist destination… should your travel plans take you to Gainesville, Florida.

The home’s current owner, Brandy Clark, wrote on a Petty Facebook fan club page that she might sell the home and the offers started rolling in.

Kevin Beauchamp from California offered $175,000, and, with the help of Petty New York fan Joanne Davis and Jeff Goldstein, president of the Gainesville Music History Foundation, are working to have the property labeled an historic landmark, and possibly turned into a museum to honor Petty and some of the other musicians who came out of Gainesville. That list includes Stephen Stills, Don Felder and original Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon, along with some of the members of Petty’sHeartbreakers.

The 12-hundred square foot home, built in 1952, has been remodeled since Petty lived there, but the pink tile is still in the bathroom.

Petty, who long ago moved to Los Angeles, died in 2017 from an accidental drug overdose. He was 66.
