Foo Fighters: Pauly Shore Joins In for a Tribute to His Dad

Foo Fighters were joined by Pauly Shore during a festival-closing set at Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. The comedian sang “My Hero” in honor of his father Sammy Shore, who’d died the previous day at age 92.  Sammy Shore co-founded The Comedy Store in Los Angeles with his former wife Mitzi Shore.

Actor-comedian Pauly Shore was on hand at Sonic Temple over the weekend as part of the comedy stage lineup.  Foo Fighters made sure to mark the occasion in their set Sunday night at Sonic Temple, playing “My Hero” and dedicating the song to Pauly and his father. During the performance, Pauly Shore was standing side of the stage wearing a photo of his late father on his shirt. Grohl made sure to have the cameras focus on the shirt, while Shore briefly addressed the crowd.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Sammy Shore died of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas on Saturday. His career began as a comedian working in the “Borscht Belt” of New York’s Catskill Mountains and eventually took him to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Shore once opened Elvis Presley’s comeback tour and he worked with many comedians and musicians.

Pauly Shore not only addressed his father’s passing, but also thanked Foo Fighters on social media for their tribute.
