Saturday’s first of two shows at Wrigley Field in Chicago gave Eddie Vedder a chance to indulge his passion for the city’s sports teams, particularly the Cubs and Bulls.

Before covering David Bowie‘s “Rebel Rebel” for the first time ever, Vedder shared the Cubs-related back story to why they were performing the song. It turns out it has to do with rookie infielder David Bote (BOW DEE), whose name is pronounced BOW-dee. A couple of weeks ago he hit a game-winning grand slam against the Washington Nationals and became an instant Cubs hero. Vedder teased the song with the video of the homer, but only after he’d shared his own story of attending the 2016 World Series, which the Cubs won, and bringing out the team’s owner, Tom Ricketts, who carried the World Series trophy with him.

Earlier in the show, Vedder called out his friend and Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman, who carried the ukulele Vedder was about to play on “Sleeping by Myself.” Taking the mic, Rodman spoke about his love for Chicago and how he wants to be buried there when his time comes. As Rodman walked off stage Vedder told him, “Dennis, just put that thing off for as long as possible. Do me a favor, alright?”
