U2: Angels of Harlem

U2 scaled things down Monday night for a one-off show at the historic Apollo Theater in the Harlem section of New York City.

The 18-song set included five songs they’ve yet to do on the Experience + Innocence tour: “Out of Control,” “Angel of Harlem,” “When Love Comes to Town,” “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of” and “Every Breaking Wave.”

Bono dedicated “Stuck in a Moment” to Anthony Bourdain, calling the chef and TV host a “great storyteller who had stories he couldn’t tell us… It’s been a funny, not funny few years. We lost a lot of inspiring, useful people. And gained a few useless people. It’s hard to lose a friend, to lose a mate. This band has been through that.”

The Sun Ra Arkestra joined U2 for four of the seven encore songs. Steve Van Zandt, Jon Bon Jovi and Harry Belafonte watched from the audience.

U2 resume their tour tomorrow (Wednesday) in Philadelphia.
