Brandi Carlile Announces Her Next Album

Big things are in store for Brandi Carlile in early 2018. In a release posted on social media Monday, Carlile outlines what’s happening in her world. It includes:

  • The release of her sixth studio album, By the Way, I Forgive You, on February 16th. She calls it “the proudest and most personal music that we’ve ever created together.” It’s produced by Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Anderson East) and Shooter Jennings.
  • Its first single, “The Joke,” which can be downloaded by pre-ordering the album.
  • Pre-order info, including a number of bundles that include exclusive items.
  • An extensive spring and summer tour, and details for a few of the dates.
  • An expanded band for her upcoming 2018 spring and summer tour, although she’s not saying what that will entail.
  • Information on how to get tickets for the first of those dates, in five major cities, which go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. local time. All online ticket sales for her tour will come with a download of the new album.

The strings on her album are arranged by Paul Buckmaster, the arranger on all Elton John’s early albums, who died last week.

A video of her performing it live in RCA Studio A in Nashville, where the album was recorded, has been posted on YouTube.
