Bruce Springsteen: A Secret Show for the Obamas Last Week

Bruce Springsteen played a secret acoustic show for President and Mrs. Obama along with their staff at the White House last week.

Backstreets revealed details about the January 12th show on Wednesday, saying that the the 15-song set took place in front of approximately 250 staffers in the White House’s East Room. Just two months ago Springsteen was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in that same room.

The set list focused mostly on the political tracks in Springsteen’s catalog. Before playing “Born in the U.S.A.,” he called it a “protest song” that had been misinterpreted in the past, and it would continued to be misinterpreted in the future. He also dedicated “Tougher Than the Rest,” which featured his wife, Patti Scialfa, to the Obamas for all they endured during the past eight years.
